KEENE,NH- On Thursday evening the group known as Keene Ice went before the City Council's Finance Organization and Personnel Committee.
A committee organized by the group that was studying plans to bring a year round ice arena to the building at 350 Marlboro street; went before the Finance Committee seeking an endorsement from the city.
Jack Dugan of the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation told city officials he looks forward to working with Keene Ice, and said he expects to move seamlessly from the on-going Court house project to the Ice rink.
Prior to giving a unanimous recommendation that the whole City Council endorse the project, City Manager John MacLean told the Finance Committee that many details still needed to be worked out between the city and Keene Ice. MacLean expressed optimism in the possibility of working with the group in the future.
Keene Ice board member John Raffensberger said he hopes for skate able ice in the autumn of 2014.
