KEENE, NH- A local woman is facing a misdemeanor charge for filing a false police report saying a man raped her.
In January Police began investigating a claim made by 18 year old Samantha Newell, that she had been raped by a 30 year old unidentified man from Keene.
According to police after interviewing both the accused and Newell as well as examining text messages obtained during the course of the investigation, Police discovered Newell lied about being raped and that she actually gave her consent for relations between the two.
On Friday Police took Newell into custody, charging her with a single count of filing a false report to law enforcement, but was able to make her $1,000.00 bail.
Newell is scheduled to be in 8th Circuit court for her arrangement on April 2nd
