Manchester, NH- Residents across the state are mourning the loss of New Hampshire Army National Guard chief warrant officer Charlie Morgan who lost her battle with Breast Cancer on Sunday.
Morgan was also a champion for the LGBT community, as both gay and lesbian service members say Morgan what a voice of support in their time of need when it came to asking for the same benefits straight military couples received.
Recently Morgan led the Pledge of Allegiance at Governor Hassan’s inauguration.
As for the impact Morgan had on those across the state Governor Hassan said, “She was devoted to her family and her country and she stood up for what she believed in. Which is an important part of who we are as a state and country.”
New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen also released a state on Morgan’s impact to the Granite State saying, ”Charlie Morgan epitomized courage-in her military service, her fight for LGBT equality and her battle with cancer. She showed us how to live and die with dignity.”
The late Mrs. Morgan leaves behind a wife and daughter.
