Mick Jagger: Rolling Stones 'not going to do Coachella'

Mick Jagger has killed fans' dreams of catching the Rolling Stones at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California this spring, insisting it's "too early" for the rockers to consider.

Reports suggesting the reunited supergroup would be headlining the annual Indio event swirled in December when a post on the band's touring app hinted that Coachella would be a possibility for 2013.

Insiders have since suggested such a gig is unlikely and now Jagger himself has announced the Stones will not be playing there, as organisers prepare to release the line-up.

The singer tells the NME, "We're not gonna do Coachella 'cause it's too early. There was a rumor we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn't it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April."

But he has confirmed there will be dates in 2013, adding, "We're not gonna stop."

The Rolling Stones reformed last year for five dates to mark the group's 50th anniversary.
