Food Drive Raises 3 Tons Of Food For Those In Need.

KEENE, NH- The holidays usually mark a time of year when families enjoy not only each other’s company but also a hearty meal, not every family is able to succeed on both fronts.
In efforts of making sure everyone in the community has a warm meal especially during this holiday season the Mondanock Radio Group teamed up with the Fenton Family Dealerships and the 4 major supermarkets in the city of Keene and held a community food drive on Saturday with all the proceeds going to the Keene Community Kitchen.
The day long effort featured a group of personalities from one of the Monadnock Radio Groups stations on hand collecting both cash and food donations at Shaw’s, Hannaford’s, Marketbaset and Price Chopper and also featured the services of the “Flooring Guys” from Monadnock Flooring and Decorating taking on the vital role of transporting and delivering all the food collected to the Community Kitchen.
In all Executive Director of the Community Kitchen Phoebe Bray told WKBK’s Dan Mitchell Saturday’s efforts raised “a conservative estimate is about 6000 lbs. of food”.
With 100 % of everything collected benefiting local families in need Bray said the amount collected would keep the Kitchen stocked till January, a time when donations usually drop off.
Bray not only expressed her gratitude for all the donations which came from Saturday’s efforts but also reminds residents that the Kitchen is always looking for donations of any type year round.
