SWANZEY, NH- Police in the town of Swanzey might look a little rough around the edges during this holiday season, but it’s for a good cause.
As officers during the month of December will forgo shaving in order to raise money for less fortunate families in the community, If the whole department can survive a month void of Barbasoal shaving cream and Bic razors the Swanzey Police Benevolent Association will donate at least $750.00 to the town of Swanzey so the funds may be utilized by those in need, a task which will be overseen by Sandy Page, General Assistance Coordinator.
Now in the event any officers in the department fail in going the whole month without shaving they’ll have to reach into their own wallets and donate $100.00 for failing to complete the challenge.
For those interested the department is not only encouraging but also challenging anyone willing to grow a beard to join in their cause for the month, though Police say they totally understand if some just wish to donate and not get involved in the physical aspect of “Operation Dirty Dozen”.
For those who would just rather make a donation to the cause Police say anything would be appreciated and checks can be made out to the Swanzey PBA located at 34 Eaton Rd, Swanzey NH, 03446.
