KEENE,NH- In its 22nd year, Keene’s Pumpkin Festival took center stage Saturday despite not meeting its goal of setting a new world record for the most lit jack-o-lanterns in one location.
At 8pm Mayor Kendall Lane addressed the crowd from Central Square and gave a speech in which he praised the community and shared some personal insight on the day’s event, before showcasing the city’s grand total of 29,381 to thunderous applause.
While Keene fell short of the world record and the glory associated with winning, it did however walk away with $ 10,000 courtesy of the Discover Card Company which will go to local education.
While the exact number for Highwood Illinois has yet to be released, people across the country soon will be able to watch things play out when cable channel HGTV airs its “Pumpkin Wars” special on October 31st. Which pits Keene against Highwood and features the stars of HGTV’s “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott.
