Barbra Streisand returned to her native Brooklyn, New York on Thursday night to play her first ever hometown show.

The veteran entertainer kicked off her Back To Brooklyn tour with an opening concert at the Barclays Center in her native New York City borough.

Streisand told the crowd, "Hello Brooklyn. Who said you can't come home again, right?... The last time (I) sang in Brooklyn was on a stoop on Pulaski Street (as a child)... It might have taken me 33 years, but I'm finally here."

She later added, "I left Brooklyn to pursue my dreams. Brooklyn quite never left me."

The 70 year old thrilled the audience with hits including People and Evergreen, as well as a question-and-answer session with fans, and she included a tribute to late singer Donna Summer before singing their duet No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)."

She also remembered her composer friend Marvin Hamlisch, who died in August, by singing their collaboration The Way We Were and dedicating the track to him, saying, "This is for you."

During a rendition of Cole Porter song You're the Top, Streisand made a more light-hearted dedication by changing the lyrics and name-dropping fellow Brooklyn native Jay-Z, who performed eight shows at the same venue earlier this month.

Streisand also used the gig to give her singer/actor son, Jason Gould, a boost by performing a duet with him. (LR/WNWCMER/ZN)
