JAFFREY, NH- This year's Festival of Fireworks has been cancelled due to a bomb threat.
Jaffrey Police announced Friday the event scheduled to happen at Silver Ranch Air Park has been cancelled after threatening letters were sent to the Police Department, the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce and the Keene Sentinel.
According to Police the letters directed to town officials, threatened the safety of those at or near the Airport on Saturday, August 18th. Police believe the threat was mainly directed towards those who would be attending the show, which was expected to draw 35,000 people.
Police say they were forced to cancel the event because they've yet to develop sufficient enough facts this early in their investigation and as result couldn't guarantee the safety of those in attendance.
