The Black Keys sue over illegal use of songs in tv ads
Rocking blues duo The Black Keys have filed lawsuits against the bosses of U.S. do-it-yourself chain Home Depot and Pizza Hut's parent company Yum! Brands, accusing the executives of unauthorised use of their songs in commercials.
The hitmakers, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, claim Home Depot marketing bosses illegally used "Lonely Boy" in one ad and the Pizza Hut people ran "Gold on the Ceiling" as a commercial soundtrack without permission.
Songwriter Danger Mouse, who produced the two tracks on The Black Keys' acclaimed "El Camino" album, is also named as a plaintiff in the legal papers, which were filed in Los Angeles on Thursday, according to Bloomberg.
