Fun star almost died while completing album

Fun star Jack Antonoff almost died before the group made it big after a lung explosion in the studio.

The "We Are Young" guitarist was putting the finishing touches to the band's album "Some Nights" when he fell ill and was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical emergency.

He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I looked at (bandmates) Nate and Andrew and I was like, 'I have to go home, I'm going to f**king die.' I'd never felt that sick.

"I had pneumonia. Something exploded in my lung. I was in the ICU (intensive care unit) and ended up on an IV for four weeks afterwards. It was crazy."
