Adam Levine benefited from mind-bending mushroom experience

Maroon 5 rocker Adam Levine is convinced his experiments with hallucinogenic drugs were "valuable and beneficial," because they made him understand himself better.

The singer admits he got high using magic mushrooms in the past, and reveals the experience helped him rediscover a childlike view of the world around him.

He tells Q magazine, "I definitely, firmly believe that the experience I had on mushrooms made me understand certain things about myself that I probably wouldn't have otherwise."

"What I took away from that experience was valuable and beneficial to me. It really forced me to look at myself."

"It's so corny to say but it's true; you just get in touch with the wonderment you have as a kid that you tend to lose. Obviously if you abuse a drug like that you'll never come back and end up as a f**king psychotic maniac."
