Rolling Stones' 'Start Me Up' selected as Olympics anthem
The Rolling Stones' hit "Start Me Up" has been selected as timepiece firm Omega's Olympics anthem.
The company has been selected as the official time-keeper of the Summer Games in London and bosses have picked the Stones' 1981 tune as the soundtrack for their official Olympics ad campaign.
Omega President Stephen Urquhart insists his firm has found the perfect track by the perfect band: "Just as the Beatles represent the Liverpool scene, the Rolling Stones represent the London scene of the 60s, 70s and beyond. We're really tapping into London and its musical heritage."
Asked by a reporter if the firm had paid the Stones $500,000 for the use of the song, Urquhart confirmed the commercial is the most expensive in the company's history, adding, "You're not far off."
