Bob Welch: Failed spinal surgery may have led to suicide

Late Fleetwood Mac singer Bob Welch may have committed suicide because he feared he would spend the rest of his life as an invalid.

London's Daily Mail quotes family friend Bart Herbison -- who heads the National Songwriters Association -- as saying that Welch had never recovered from spinal surgery and was afraid he would become a burden to his wife. The memory of his father, who died an invalid, also weighed on Welch as he decided to end his life.

So far, there's no word on funeral arrangements for Welch.
