R.E.M. New Buck song aired

Steve Wynn, who's a bandmate of former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck in The Baseball Project, played a song from Buck's upcoming solo project during a guest DJ slot on the New Jersey college radio station WFMU on Thursday.

The song, titled "One Million B.C.," is a Cramps-style rockabilly raver with Buck singing the lead vocal. Wynn described Buck's album as musically "all over the map -- garage rock, pop music, surf music all rolled into one." He said it may be issued as "a very limited-edition on vinyl only, maybe at the end of the summer." He said he had gotten Buck's permission to world premiere the song.

As we've previously reported, Buck is joined by R.E.M's Mike Mills, Bill Rieflin and Scott McCaughey plus Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye on the record.
