John Legend runs with Olympic torch

American R&B star John Legend laced up his running shoes on Wednesday to carry the Olympic torch through the streets of Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Green Light hitmaker became the latest celebrity to join in the celebrations in the lead-up to the 2012 London Games this summer and pounded the pavement with the famous flame as hundreds of locals lining the route cheered him on.

Before the event, Legend shared his excitement with fans on Twitter.com by posting pictures of himself in the torch-bearing uniform as he prepared for the run.

He follows in the footsteps of actor James McAvoy, rapper will.i.am, rockers Muse and former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, who have all carried the Olympic torch as part of its 70-day journey around the U.K. (MT/WNTWT/KL)
