Eric Clapton's Six-String Storyteller

Eric Clapton's latest effort to raise money for his Crossroads rehab facility on the Caribbean island of Antigua will be a book. Eric Clapton Six String Stories: The Crossroads Auction Guitars 1999-2011 is a signed, limited-edition book that documents his career through the many guitars he has played. He says, "Each individual guitar seems to have this in-built virtuosity of its own... It can take you another 10 miles down the road. Once it stops, it's time to move on to the next one. My career has been divided up with these instruments." The book will be published by high-end U.K. publisher Genesis Publications, but no word yet on when.

Genesis Publications teamed with Clapton in 1991 to produce 24 Nights, a chronicle of his legendary 24 performances at London's Royal Albert Hall. And he's contributed to two Genesis books -- Concert for George [Harrison] and George Harrison Live in Japan. --Sal Cirrincione
