September 11: ten years later

This year, we pause to remember those we lost 10 years ago during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We also celebrate strength and determination that has pushed us forward in the face of adversity.

Obama to speak at National Cathedral on 9/11

President Obama and the first lady are planning a series of events on Sept. 11 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks, CBS News reports.

In addition to Ground Zero in New York City, the site of the United Flight 93 crash in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon, the White House says the president will attend the "Concert of Hope" at the National Cathedral that evening.

Speaking to reporters traveling with the President on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, "the approach we're taking to commeorating that tragedy and the remarkable resilience of the American people is one we think is appropriate."

Along with the Obama's former President George W. Bush is scheduled to attend the memorial event along with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Mayor Bloomberg and other politicians and government officials.

The Ground Zero ceremony will include the readings of victims names from all three crash sites. The memorial is set to open Sept. 11 to families of victims and dignitaries and will open to the general public the next day.

This from a president that conveniently forgets to place hand over heart during the national anthem. Land in a plane on the deck of an aircraft carrier and don't interrupt a Packer game and you might get a little more respect.
