Keene Thespian Faces Theft Charge

Police: Scheme Netted Over $20K Over 4 Years

KEENE, NH - A local man familiar to area live-theatergoers has been charged with Theft By Deception, out of what police say was a scheme of diversion of funds from his employer.  Police say Gerald Sherman Herring Morrison, 44, of Keene was employed by Antioch University New England in 2007, at which time he also served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Ashuelot River Park.  Investigators alleged that Morrison, who goes by his first middle name Sherman, sent bills from the park group to Antioch for non-existent expenses, and then wrote himself checks from the payments Antioch sent the group.  The scheme allegedly netted over $20,000 before Morrison and his family moved to South America in 2011.  He moved back only recently.

Morrison is due in court next week.
